Stuck (2021)

Stuck

I filmed, directed, and edited this music video for a song written and produced by my sister, Mia Stegner, from her sixth independent album, Apples to Oranges, Dust to Dust. I hope to depict the sense of being lost in a dull, dreamlike maze that stretches on forever, trapped in the type of grim trance suggested by Mia when she writes, "I'm here again it seems / I feel I'm living in a dream. / And I'm stuck, and I'm stuck, and I'm stuck..."

I filmed, co-directed, and co-edited this music video for a song written and produced by my sister, Mia Stegner, from her fifth independent album, Scribbled Pleas on Yellowed Keys. I hope to highlight the dancer's expressive, artistic performance by setting her apart from her environment through surreal color grading, using blue and purple hues to conjure feelings evoked by Mia's lyrics: "I think I've lived in a bubble / I think I've lived in a dream."

Pretty Sky

I filmed, directed, and edited this music video for a song written and produced by my sister, Mia Stegner, from her fifth independent album, Scribbled Pleas on Yellowed Keys. I hope to complement the song's bright, quirky energy with dreamy images, saturated in "pretty colors to distract / from impending doom." Behind a facade of cheery artifice, an underlying sense of restlessness haunts the singer, who finds herself drowning in discontent with life's repetitive rhythms, even when surrounded by wonders.

Zoetic

Zoetic (2020)

In this music video about locating beauty in mundane moments, I edited original footage to a song written and produced by my sister, Mia Stegner, from her third independent album, Indebted to Blue. Drawing on thematic material in the lyrics, I focused on a number of recurring visual motifs to characterize the spectator's relationship to the ordinary natural world, one of awe and revelry in the external as a transcendent escape from internal struggle, becoming "blown away / by something you see every day..."
