Joy and Love on Student Film Sets

The personal archive of my camera roll holds hours of behind-the-scenes footage taken on film sets with my friends and colleagues. Within that material, small moments of spontaneous expression represent how joyful the creative process of filmmaking can be. When filmmakers prioritize a genuine spirit of care and mutual respect at all levels of production, this collaborative practice can serve as a powerful form of community building.

Animating on top of these short shots, none longer than thirty seconds, is my way of memorializing interactions I witnessed and paying tribute to fleeting moments, slowing them down to decorate one single frame at a time and  asserting that they matter in the process. By using vivid colors and textures in motion, I try to express the vibrant energies of each moment through my eyes, heightening and making visible the subjective experience within and beyond what the camera can see.
